ROCHESTER - The recent short film night held at the Rochester Opera House was another great success for the Rochester Museum of Fine Arts.

The museum's curatorial committee worked closely with filmmakers, producers, and artists to exhibit a diverse collection of award-winning shorts from around the world.

The films were shown in rapid succession after a brief introduction by museum co-founders Matt Wyatt and Amy Regan.

The evening included many innovative independent shorts including, 97%, Fetch, Shattered, Double Trouble, Wayne the Stegosaurus, Borrowed Time, Fluffy McCloud, and Fears.

Wyatt thanked the Rochester Opera House for hosting the event; Rochester Main Street for media sponsorship; and the museum's committee for "working so hard to make art and film accessible to people in Rochester."

"The evening was immensely entertaining and moving with world class creativity on screen for all to enjoy." said Rochester Main Street Director Michael Provost. "I laughed, pondered, and cried. If the basis for art is to engage and entertain the viewer -- it was tremendously successful."

"Wow! What a great night of films, again!" said Rochester resident and audience member Maria Reinsel Brush. "You made us laugh, squirm in our seats, you plucked at our heart strings, and made us stop for a moment and think about our own compassion for others... and even for a refrigerator named Chillie! Bravo! Well done."

Audience members were asked to cast a ballot for their favorite film of the evening. Outliers included Sausage, Procrastination, and Runaway. Butterfly Circus won the night with 40 percent of the vote. Visit www.rochestermfa.org for more information.
