Nighttime paving work on Spaulding Turnpike in Rochester, Dover begins Sunday

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation will perform nighttime construction work on Interstate 95 and the Spaulding Turnpike in Seabrook, Newington, Dover, and Rochester as part of pavement preservation efforts, including crack sealing, milling, and repaving. Weather permitting, work will begin on Sunday when crews will perform crack filling operations on I-95 between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.. Lane closures will be in place on the northbound side from the Massachusetts state line to Mile Marker 4.0, and on the southbound side from Mile Marker 5.0 to the Massachusetts state line. Additional work will take place on the Spaulding Turnpike (Route 16), including temporary nighttime ramp closures with signed detours in place for milling and repaving operations at Exits 7 and 8, both northbound and southbound. Pavement treatment will also include full-width milling and repaving from Mile Marker 12.70 to Mile Marker 17.22 in both directions. Message boards, uniformed officers, traffic control devices, and smart work zone devices will be used to notify the traveling public. The work is part of the Eastern Turnpike (Seabrook-Newington-Dover-Rochester) preservation project #44504. Brox Industries, Inc. of Dracut, Mass., is the prime contractor for the $6,491,737.25 project. The overall project is scheduled to be completed in September.
