SPRINGVALE - The cause of death of a man whose body was found in the Mousam River is not considered suspicious, according to Sanford Police, who theorize the body could have drifted with the current for some distance before being discovered on Friday around 6 p.m.

Sanford Police indicate there was no indication of foul play in the case and are awaiting a final autopsy report from the Maine Medical Examiner’s Office later this week.

The man, said to be middle-aged, had no identification on him, said Sanford Police Deputy Chief Tim Strout today. He said preliminary reports indicated the man’s body showed no signs of trauma.

He said the body was found near condominiums located between the Mill Street bridge and the dam.
