Officer-involved shooting ends Ossipee standoff

CONCORD - State Police on Friday released announce additional information regarding an officer-involved shooting incident that took place in Ossipee on Thursday.

According to a statement from the Attorney General's office, Ossipee Police Officers responded to a residence on Oakwood Drive in Ossipee around 2:45 to serve John Swanson, 53, with several legal documents and to arrest Mr. Swanson.

Following the initial response, Swanson refused to come out of his home, prompting additional New Hampshire State Police Officers to converge on the scene.

At around 7:55 p.m. Swanson was shot during a confrontation with the police. He sustained injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment.

No officers or other private citizens were physically injured during the incident, and there is no threat to the public. Pursuant to protocol, the name of the officer or officers involved in the incident are being withheld pending an investigation.

No additional information is expected to be released until the conclusion of the formal interviews.
