One dead in late-night Rochester mobile home fire

ROCHESTER - A fast-moving fire tore through a Whitehall Road mobile home late Wednesday night, leaving one dead.

The victim, a resident, was found inside the home as firefighters desperately fought the blaze. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Rochester Fire first responded to the blaze around 11:40 p.m. for a reported fire at 154 Whitehall Road. Upon arrival, heavy fire was already visible, and a one-alarm response was requested, sending firefighters from Dover, Milton, and Durham to assist at the scene.
The identity of the victim is being withheld pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.

The incident is under investigation by the Rochester Fire and Police departments and the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal's office. The origin and cause have not been determined at this time.

Whitehall Road was shut down during the incident and remained closed well into the early morning hours today.
