One in hospital with life-threatening injuries, another charged in Highland St. crash

EAST ROCHESTER - One motorist is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries and another is jailed on DUI charges after a head-on collision and rollover on Highland Street Sunday afternoon.

The crash occurred just before 3 p.m. near Blue Bird Storage where responders arrived to find a heavily damaged Toyota Rav 4 off the roadway and another heavily damaged Toyota Tacoma in the middle of the road on its side.

There was a large debris field scattered in the road and several other vehicles were pulled over with passersby out and attempting to help, according to a Rochester Police press release sent today.

The driver of the Tacoma, seen above, was charged with aggravated DUI.

The driver of the Rav 4, who was found trapped in his vehicle, was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital with serious, possibly life threatening injuries, police say.

The driver of the Tacoma, Scott Boire, 37, of Raymond, was arrested for aggravated DUI. He was taken to Strafford County Jail and will be arraigned today at 11 a.m. Boire was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Preliminary investigation indicates the Tacoma crossed over the yellow center line and struck the oncoming Rav 4, however the accident remains under investigation at this time.

The roadway near the accident scene was was closed for about six hours.

The Strafford County Regional Technical Accident Reconstruction Team was called in to assist with the investigation.
