Pair of morning crashes keep first responders busy
Staff Reports
ROCHESTER - A pair of Thursday morning accidents kept Rochester first responders busy with crashes on Oak and Washington streets. First, police answered a call for a crash around 9:30 a.m. on Oak Street near Ledgeview Drive. When officers arrived they found that Dwayne Wojtysiak, 48, of Strafford was operating a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado with a snow plow attached to the front and traveling westbound on Oak when he stuck a Ford bucket truck that was parked on the westbound side of the road. The unoccupied bucket truck, which was partially in the roadway but had flashing lights and a caution cone behind it, had been parked by a utility employee who was working nearby. Both vehicles suffered significant damage. Wojtysiak was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital for nonlife-threatening injuries. The cause of that accident remains under investigation. Then, about two hours later around 11:30 a.m. responders were back on alert with a collision on Washington Street. (See picture, Lebanon Voice Facebook Page) The initial investigation revealed that Heather Croteau, 34, of Center Conway, N.H., was driving a 2001 Toyota Avalon, traveling eastbound on Washington Street, when she approached the intersection of Hoover Street and collided with a 2009 Hyundai Accent operated by Deborah Reed, 63 of Rochester, who was entering Washington from Hoover. Both vehicles suffered significant damage. A passenger in Croteau's vehicle, Lisa Boudreau, 34 of Madison, N.H., was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital for nonlife-threatening injuries. Reed was issued a summons for Failure to Yield.
