LEBANON - A fire that flared inside a pickup truck and threatened a nearby mobile home was quickly doused by Milton firefighters on Wednesday.

The fire at 542 River Road erupted around 11:15 a.m. after a female resident of the home turned the vehicle's ignition on so it could warm up, according to a family member who did not want to be identified.

Soon after that fire broke out inside the cab and residents called it into 911.

When Milton Fire arrived at the scene shortly before Lebanon Fire the pickup was fully involved with flames shooting out of the cab, said Milton Fire Chief Nick Marique.

"We were able to get some handlines on it and knock it down in about 10 minutes," Marique said.

The intense heat of the blaze twisted siding on the mobile home next to it, but it never caught fire.

No one was injured in the fire. The truck, however, was destroyed.

A n investigation is under way to determine the exact cause.
