They don't skimp on the crab in the crab roll. This one came with a gluten free bun. (Rochester Voice photos)

ROCHESTER - The first thing you notice when you walk into Pepper's Landing is their wonderful concrete floor which is reminiscent of an old-fashioned lobster pound or even a seafood processing plant.

Inside and out they've done a masterful job creating the authentic feel of a coastal Maine restaurant in the midst of The Ridge Marketplace off Route 11.

But let's get right to the food.

First for an appetizer we had the Buffalo cauliflower. Breaded with a mixture of corn starch, flour and dry spices, this lightly breaded, slightly hot dish is now a fav with us.

Make sure you get this app when you go. You won't be disappointed.

I got the crab roll ($17), which was basic and bounteous with plenty of sweet Jonah crab mixed with mayo and iceberg lettuce, a side of cole slaw and french fries. Since I'm gluten free I got an overflowing serving of their homemade chips.

Buffalo cauliflower brings some heat, but it comes with some very cool dip choices.

I couldn't eat them all, took them home in a doggie bag and had them for a snack several hours later. The time in the Fridge was a friend to them. They had a whole new taste that was different but equally delicious. Unbelievable. Make sure you get their homemade chips, all thick and super crunchy.

Finally, Martha got a bowl of the lobster bisque ($9), which was unusual in that it came with a whole claw swimming in the thick creaminess.

Reasonable prices, a comfortable relaxed atmosphere and top notch service.
