ROCHESTER - A Rochester man has been indicted on charges he gave Klonopin to a 12-year-old female in August to "to calm her down."

Todd Caswell, 35, of 3 Daniel Court, was indicted on two charges connected with the Aug 24 incident including endangering the welfare of a child and acts prohibited, a special felony that could land him in state prison for up to 15 years. Caswell claimed he gave it to her "to calm her down," said Rochester Police Capt. Gary Boudreau today. Rochester Police got involved in the case when they were called to Frisbie Hospital for a report of a juvenile being given a drug without a prescription.

Caswell was also indicted on three other counts regarding an altercation at his residence in June in which he allegedly pointed a shotgun at a female.

Boudreau said police went to the residence on June 7 after separate calls came in around 1 a.m. that a man had a gun and was yelling at a woman. Caswell was charged with two counts of felony criminal threatening for allegedly pointing the shotgun at her twice and a Class A simple assault misdemeanor for allegedly throwing her to the ground.

Both criminal threatening charges are Class B felonies punishable by up to seven years in state prison.
