SANFORD - A Sanford man faces charges of car theft, theft and multiple counts of identity theft after police say he stole a 2003 Infiniti in Alfred and used credit cards found in the luxury car to purchase cigarettes and other stuff at two Sanford convenience stores and a Dunkin' Donuts.
Brandon Ingalls, 20, allegedly stole the car from where it was parked on Sanford Road in Alfred on May 10. Police say he then drove to Sanford and bought $452 worth of cigarettes and other items at a 7-Eleven, Cumberland Farms and the Dunkin'. Surveillance images and video were obtained by police as part of the investigations.
The car turned up May 14 on St. Ignatius Street in Sanford.
After reviewing the surveillance videos police developed Ingalls as a prime suspect. DNA evidence was also found on the car, which was returned to its rightful owner with no damage.
Ingalls was arrested Sunday and booked at York County Jail. He also faces charges of violating condition of release and operating after suspension.
After an arraignment Monday, he was released on $250 cash bail pending his next court appearance.
