Thomas J. Williams III

ROCHESTER - More details came to light on Wednesday regarding a bizarre arson case and the Lebanon resident accused in it.

Thomas J. Williams III, aka "TJ," 36, with a last known address of 6 Cemetery Road, is wanted on charges of arson, falsifying physical evidence and disorderly conduct. He is also this week's Most Wanted of the Week by Rochester Police.

According to Rochester Police Capt. Gary Boudreau, the incident in question occurred after midnight on March 11 on Abbott Street in Eastside, when Williams allegedly lighted a Christmas tree discarded on a resident's front lawn on fire.

The burning tree posed a threat to a nearby residence, so a call was placed to Rochester Police who responded to the scene.

"By the time we got there the suspect had fled on his bicycle, dragging the tree behind him," Boudreau said on Wednesday, noting the alleged Christmas tree burner is still at large.

Williams is described as 6-foot-3 and 175 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.

There is also a bench warrant for his arrest for not appearing in court on a separate charge.

Tipsters who have info on where Williams might be are urged to call the Rochester Police Department at 603-330-7128.
