CONCORD - Following today's release of employment figures that show New Hampshire as the fastest growing state in the Northeast for private sector job growth, Governor Chris Sununu touted the state's booming economy and warned once again that raising taxes would be a job killer.

"Companies are flocking to New Hampshire left and right as a result of our low taxes and business-friendly environment," said the governor. "This news comes on the heels of the July jobs report, which shows that more Granite Staters are working than ever before in New Hampshire history.

Sununu also said that with the growing economy it is important to take special note of entrepreneurs and innovators.

"As our economy continues to boom, we must continue to foster an economy that welcomes and encourages job-creation," he said. "To pass a budget that increases taxes by 12.5 percent on New Hampshire's job creators would have exactly the opposite effect and would put a damper on our private sector job growth."

The new jobs numbers come close on the heels of a WalletHub survey that found New Hampshire was one of the toughest states in the nation to start a new business.
