Probable cause hearing in teen's fentanyl death continued

Leslie Aberle

ROCHESTER - Today's probable cause hearing for a woman charged in the fentanyl overdose death of Rochester teenager Eve Tarmey inside a city motel room in October has been rescheduled.

Leslie Aberle, 31, of High St., Salisbury, Mass., was arraigned earlier this month in Rochester District Court on charges of felony conspiracy to commit possession of a controlled drug, felony tampering with witnesses and informants and dispensing controlled drug, death resulting, which could mean life in prison.

A probable cause is held so that the prosecution and defense can present their arguments before a judge determines whether the case should be bound over to Superior Court for possible indictment and trial.

Aberle, along with Tarmey's mother, Jazzmyn Rood, 41, of 11 Barker Court, Rochester; and Mark Ross, 41, of 479 Gonic Road, The Riviera Motel, Room 117, are also both charged in Tarmey's Oct. 17 death and being held on high bail at Strafford County Jail.

No new date had been set for Aberle's probable cause hearing.

Meanwhile, a decision as to whether or not Rood's case will move on to Superior Court for possible indictment has still not been rendered by the judge who heard her probable cause hearing on Nov. 19.

Rood has been charged with misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child, felony conspiracy to commit possession of a controlled drug and felony reckless conduct placing another in danger.

There is no projected timeframe within which the ruling on Rood is to be released.
