Rochester author to hold book launch at Rochester Public Library

ROCHESTER - Rochester author J. L. Long has just released his second poetry collection, The Cancer Cantos. In the autumn of 2019, the poet's mother was diagnosed with cancer. In the winter of 2019, she underwent chemotherapy and surgery. In October of 2020, the poet's mother died. The Cancer Cantos collection covers that year and beyond, exploring grief, family, resilience, the COVID-19 pandemic, sweet potato casserole, and more. The official book launch and live reading by the author is scheduled for May 6 at 6 p.m. The reading will be held in the Community Room at the Rochester Public Library, located at 65 S.
