Rochester Cares cleanup day set for this Saturday

Rochester Cares Cleanup Day is set for Earth Day this Saturday.

New this year, the reinvigorated Riverwalk Committee will be looking for a few volunteers to help with a shore-side Cocheco River cleanup that day. As usual, Rochester Recreation and arena will be registering volunteers who wish to do roadside cleanup, and Main Street will be handling volunteer registration for downtown area work projects.

If you want to do roadside trash pickup you will need to register with the Recreation department at www.rochesternh/recreation-arena, and for downtown and Riverwalk projects contact the Main Street Office at director@rochestermainstreet.org or call 603-330-3208.

Following the morning cleanup there is a community volunteer celebration and complimentary lunch planned at the Rochester Community center.

Volunteers are asked to bring rakes, shovels, and any wheelbarrows would be appreciated as they are always in short supply.

You may also register the day of the event at the statue of Parson Main in Central Square from 8:15 to 9 a.m. This is a rain/shine event.

As a part of our Rochester Cares Program the Main Street volunteers will be installing four pet waste stations in the core downtown in cooperation with the Rochester Public Works Department. We must remind our readers that are pet owners that it is the law to pick up after your pets, and doing so will help us keep a cleaner and healthier downtown for everyone.

The event is hosted in in conjunction with Rochester Recreation & Arena and sponsored by Rochester Rotary Club, with assistance from Rochester Department of Public Works and Waste Management, along with our helping partners Dunkin' Donuts and Seacoast Coca-Cola.
