ROCHESTER - Peter Nourse, Rochester's Department of Public Works director who has worked for the city the past four years, has resigned from the position effective today to take a similar position with the town of Gilford.

Nourse gave his notice of resignation several weeks ago, City Manager Daniel Fitzpatrick said today.

Nourse, of Center Barnstead, N.H., was recently chosen as the new director of Public Works for the town of Gilford. He will begin his new job effective Monday.

Nourse will be replaced on an interim basis by City of Rochester engineer Mike Bazanian, who had been the department's deputy director.

Management resources will now proceed with recruitment for a new permanent replacement, Fitzpatrick said.
