ROCHESTER - Rochester Grange 86 will be hosting a program put on by the Rochester Police Department on Saturday at the Grange Hall on Charles Street.

Grange Steward Jim Jacobs said recently that the subject of the program will be a surprise, but is sure to be informative and entertaining.

The public is invited to attend and begins with refreshments at 6:30 p.m. followed by the program around 7 p.m.

Granges were formerly agrarian societies but have transformed over the years into more community-action pursuit.

Grange 86 does a lot of fund-raising for scholarships and free dictionaries among other community service projects, Jacobs said.

Housed in a former rectory, the Grange is located at 21 Charles St. next to the Castle on Charles.

"It's a great chance to come out and see a quality program put on by police and see what the Grange is all about," Jacobs said.
