Rochester man arrested for alleged long-term sex abuse of minor

CONCORD - A Rochester man was arrested on Tuesday on charges including 15 counts of sexual assault against a minor that allegedly occurred over a number of years.
Darpan Kirat Rai, 36, is alleged to have engaged in the abuse with a youngster of grade school age.
Police in Concord, Barrington and Boscawen participated in an investigation that began in May.
The abuse is alleged to have occurred over several years and included force and threats against a female he knew, according to a statement by police.
The investigation began after an acquaintance of the victim came forward to tell police.
Rai was taken into custody at his Rochester residence without incident, police say.
His arraignment is set for later today in Concord District Court.
