Rochester man charged with DUI in Old Dover Road crash that snapped utility pole

ROCHESTER - A Rochester man was charged with drunken driving on Sunday after he crashed his SUV into a utility pole on Old Dover Road.

Police say Hank Destefano, 37, was driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer northbound in the area of 251 Old Dover Road when it left the roadway and struck a utility pole and guy wire.

The pole was knocked into the road, which was closed to one lane for a short period of time.

Destefano was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital with what were described as nonlife threatening injuries and later charged with driving under the influence and operating without a valid license, both Class B misdemeanors.
