Rochester man charged with OAS after rollover crash

ROCHESTER - A Rochester man faces jail time for driving after suspension after the vehicle he was driving crashed and rolled over on Estes Road on Wednesday.

Police got the call for the rollover around 5:31 p.m. and responded to the area of Estes Road near the intersection of Oak Street.

After a brief investigation it was learned that James Owens, 32, of Rochester, was headed west on Estes Road in a Kia Optima when the vehicle drifted off the pavement and struck a rock on the shoulder which led the its rolling over. The Kia came to rest right side up partially in the lane of traffic on the opposite side of the road.

Owens was taken to Frisbie Memorial Hospital with what were described as nonlife threatening injuries.

Ayers was charged with Driving After Suspension, a Class A misdemeanor, which is punishable by up to a year in jail.

The investigation required the closure of Estes Road for a short period of time.
