DOVER, N.H. - A Rochester man has been indicted on charges of felony forgery and felony robbery in two separate February incidents that span three different area towns.
Mark Arabia, 37, of 140 Maple Street, stands charged with robbery in a Somersworth case that occurred on Feb. 21 when police say a 20-year-old man came out of his Broad Street residence and saw Arabia rummaging through his car. According to Somersworth Police Chief David Kretschmar, Arabia, who had some of the victim's possession from the vehicle on him, assaulted the victim in an attempt to escape. The victim suffered minor injuries, Kretschmar said.
A couple of weeks earlier on Feb. 6 Rochester Police say Arabia cashed an $800 check at a TD Bank in the city forging the signature of a Farmington woman on whose account it was drawn.
Rochester Police Capt. Gary Boudreau said the check had been taken from the woman's Farmington residence.
If convicted on both counts, Arabia could spend up to 14 years in state prison.
The Strafford County grand jury indictments were handed down May 19 and released last Friday.
An indictment is not an indication of guilt, only that enough evidence has been presented to a grand jury to warrant a trial.
