Rochester now has more COVID-19 cases than anywhere in the county

CONCORD - Rochester is now contending with more active COVID-19 cases than any other town or city in Strafford County, according to state DHHS numbers.

Data released on Wednesday shows the Lilac City with 15 current cases, compared with Dover, which formally was the county's hot spot, which has just nine. Other local numbers show Barrington with five and Somersworth, Farmington, Strafford and Milton with 1-4. DHHS does not release town-specific numbers if the case count falls below five.

Meanwhile, 54 new positive test results for COVID-19 were reported on Wednesday, four new hospitalizations and seven deaths.

The new cases include two under the age of 18. Some 72 percent are among women.

DHHS also announced seven new deaths from the disease, six from Hillsborough County including a woman under the age of 60 and one from Rockingham County.
