Rochester Police probe cruelty case after dog's death at Amazon Park

ROCHESTER - Rochester Police said today they are investigating a possible animal cruelty case at Amazon Park on Whitehouse Road in which a dog died.

The alleged abuse was reported on Monday around 5 p.m. and was said to have occurred on Friday.

Rochester Police Capt. Jason Thomas said the canine's remains had been transported to the New Hampshire Veterinary Diagnostic Lab at UNH where a necropsy will be performed to determine the official cause of death.

Thomas said the results of the necropsy should be available in one to three days after which police will decided if charges will be filed.

Thomas declined to release the type of dog or its age since the investigation is ongoing at this point.

If the alleged abuse is proved true, it will be the second animal cruelty case at Amazon Park in the last three months.

In October, Gage White, 22, of 105 Whitehouse Road, was arrested for using a taser on his mixed breed pit bull, Cairo. The dog recovered and was relocated to the Cocheco Valley Humane Society, where he was put up for adoption last month.
