Rochester teenager arrested in Wednesday's brutal stabbing

ROCHESTER - A Walnut Street teenager was arrested today in the vicious stabbing of a Rochester man in an apartment building hallway on Wednesday.

Noah A. Dumont, 18, of 59 Walnut St., Rochester, was charged with first degree assault, a Class A felony. Police also had an active warrant on Dumont for receiving stolen property, also a Class A felony. The earlier case alleges Dumont stole tools valued at more than $3,000.

Rochester Police first responded around 2:50 a.m. to a stabbing in a common hallway of an apartment building at 17½ Bridge St. and found the male victim, who had been stabbed some seven times.

The 24-year-old victim did not reside at the address.

The suspect fled on foot, eluding police and a K-9 track.

The victim was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital with what were described as non-life threatening injuries.

Bail for Dumont was set at $100,000. He was taken to Strafford County Jail pending his arraignment on Monday at Strafford County Superior Court.
