CONCORD - A 2019 Spaulding High graduate's dream to make free feminine hygiene products available to students across the state became a reality on Wednesday when Gov. Chris Sununu signed her bill into law.
SB 142, written in part by 2019 Spaulding graduate Caroline Dillon, makes free menstrual hygiene products available in school restrooms.
"This legislation is about equality and dignity" said Gov. Sununu. "SB 142 will help ensure young women in New Hampshire public schools will have the freedom to learn without disruption - and free of shame, or fear of stigma."
The bill also applies to the state's middle schools.
The bill's chief sponsor was Sen. Martha Hennessey, D-District 5.
The dispensers will be located in girls and gender-neutral restrooms located in public schools statewide.
