DOVER - A Rochester transient was sentenced to a year in Strafford County Jail on Monday for two fentanyl possession charges, including one in December in which he resisted arrest.

Robert F. Oneill, 49, will only have to serve a few more weeks however, as all but four months were suspended, and as of Monday he had 87 days of pretrial confinement credit.

The Dec. 5 arrest occurred when police responded to the Holiday Inn Express Hotel for a report of drug dealing.

When police got there around 4:15 a.m. O'Neill and another man tried to escape, but were quickly corralled and taken into custody, Rochester Police Capt. Todd Pinkham said at the time..

O'Neill, 49, was charged with possession and resisting arrest.

A third drug possession sentence was fully suspended.

Once he is released from jail he'll be on probation for two years, Deputy County Attorney Emily Garod said today.
