Rochester woman accused in rape of 19-year-old

DOVER - An East Rochester woman has been indicted on two counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault and one count of attempted aggravated felonious sexual assault against a 19-year-old in Rochester.

Mackenzie Godin, 27, with a last known address of 47 Main St., East Rochester, is accused of committing the crimes between June 1 and June 23 in Rochester.

According to the indictment, Godin knowingly engaged in sexual penetration of the victim, "when at the time of the sexual assault, (the victim) was physically helpless to resist." A second count said the rape occurred "when at the time of the sexual assault (the victim) indicated by speech or conduct that there was not freely given consent to the performance of the sexual act."

If convicted on all three counts Godin could face up to 27 years in state prison.

Because the case in ongoing and due to the nature of the charges, no further information regarding the circumstances surrounding the alleged crime are being released.

The Strafford County grand jury indictments were handed down on Jan. 15 and released last week.

An indictment is not an indication of guilt, only that enough evidence has been presented to warrant a trial.
