Rochester woman injured in Dover Road crash

ROCHESTER - A Rochester woman was injured when the vehicle she was a passenger in struck a parked box truck on Old Dover Road on Tuesday.

The accident occurred around 7:30 a.m. near the intersection of Tebbetts Road where police learned after a brief investigation that Guy Leighton, 36, of Strafford, was driving a GMC box truck that was experiencing mechanical problems.

He then pulled the truck to the side of the road, but was still partially in the travel lane when Manuel Escoto, 83, of Rochester, driving a Toyota Highlander, was traveling south on Old Dover Road when he stuck the truck's rear end.

The passenger in the Highlander, Virya Sanabria, 67, of Rochester, was transported to Wentworth Douglas Hospital by Frisbie EMS for what were described as nonlife-threatening injuries.

The Highlander suffered frontend damage and was towed from the scene.

Glare from the sun may have played a factor in the crash, police say.

The accident remains under investigation.
