Rochester woman Medflighted after Ten Rod Road rollover

ROCHESTER - A 29-year-old Rochester woman was Medflighted to a Portland hospital after her car flipped over on Ten Rod Road Friday night.

Police and Fire responded to the area of 100 Ten Rod Road and found a 2007 Nissan Altima on its driver's side partially on the roadway with the operator unconscious and unresponsive inside.

Members of the Rochester Fire Department had to shore up the vehicle before they could safely mount a rescue operation.

The operator of the vehicle, Heather Roland, 29 of Rochester, was extricated by the fire department and Frisbie EMS and was subsequently airlifted to the Maine Medical Center due to the seriousness of her injuries.

She was not utilizing her seat belt, police say.

Alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash which still under investigation. The roadway was closed for about an hour as Roland was extricated and the scene investigation completed. Criminal charges may be forthcoming.
