ROCHESTER - State Police today are looking for the driver of a tan Chevrolet pickup they believe was involved in a road rage incident on the Spaulding Sunday that sent an area man to the hospital with serious head injuries.

Police were dispatched a little before 2:50 p.m. and after a preliminary investigation learned that a 1991 Saab 900SE, being driven by Lee Norton, 62, of Rollinsford, NH, and the pickup truck - which had New Hampshire plates and was towing a trailer with two or three four wheelers - were traveling southbound just north of Exit 12. A witness reported that the operators of these two vehicles were engaged in a "road rage" type incident and were being operated in an "antagonizing" manner.

As the vehicles approached the area of Exit 12, Norton lost control of his vehicle, which struck the guardrail on the left side of the roadway and careened across the highway, striking a 2015 Subaru Impreza being driven by Jeffrey Cahill, 25, of Waltham, Mass.

The operator of the Chevrolet pickup left the scene.

Norton sustained serious head injuries and was treated at the scene by members of the Rochester Fire Department. He was transported to the Skyhaven Airport where he was transferred to the Maine Medical Center via medical helicopter.

A hospital spokesman at Maine Med today said Norton was no longer at the hospital.

Cahill was not injured.

All aspects of this accident are currently under investigation by state police.

The right two travel lanes were closed for about 20 minutes as troopers conducted their investigation.

Assisting the New Hampshire State Police at the scene were the Rochester Police Department, the Rochester Fire Department, and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.
