Sanford lewdness suspect arrested on unrelated charges, probation violation

Tyler Malmstrom (Police mugshot)

SANFORD, Maine - Sanford Police said on Friday that the person identified as a person of interest in a series of incidents last week in which a man exhibited sexually explicit behavior was arrested Tuesday on unrelated charges.

The male was identified as Tyler Malmstrom, 28, of Sebago, who is out on probation.

The Sanford Criminal Investigations Division worked with Maine State Probation and the Portland Police Department to locate Malmstrom, Sanford Police Detective Everett C. Allen said on Friday.

Portland Police arrested Malmsrom for operating after suspension, and alleged theft by receiving stolen property. A probation hold was also placed on Malmstrom, who was driving a Chevrolet pickup with a stolen license plate at the time of his arrest.

Sanford Police reported incidents last Saturday at various locations throughout the city including at two Aroma Joe's.

During the Aroma Joe's encounters, the male was reportedly touching himself sexually and attempted to gain access into the buildings. Each time the male fled prior to police arrival, Sanford Police Det. Everett Allen said on Friday.

Anyone with information regarding the incidents is encouraged to contact Detective Allen at 207-324-9170 Ext 225
