ARUNDEL - A 22-year-old Sanford man died Thursday when the car he was driving crashed into a tree off Route 11.

Upon arrival, York County Sheriff's deputies found that a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu headed east crossed the center line near the intersection of Trout Brook Road, left the roadway and struck a tree.

The accident occurred around 7:45 p.m.

The driver and the sole occupant of the vehicle, Michael Mackie Jr. was declared deceased at the scene.

The road was closed for around two hours during the investigation, which showed speed was a factor in the crash.
