Sanford man dies in Acton motorcycle crash

ACTON - A Sanford motorcyclist died on Mother's Day when his 2008 Honda CBR600 motorcycle went off the roadway in the 1600 block of Route 109 in Acton.

The accident happened around 6:20 p.m., when Dakota Thomas, 22, of Sanford, was riding with two other motorcyclists when he left the roadway, drove across a lawn, struck a dip in the ground and was ejected from the motorcycle.

Thomas, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was ejected from his motorcycle and landed about 30 feet into the woods.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by Acton Fire and Rescue. The crash is being reconstructed by the York County Sheriff's Office. Excessive speed is believed to be a factor in the crash, according to a press release from the York County Sheriff's Office.
