ROLLINSFORD - A Good Samaritan who was struck and killed on Monday night while trying to rescue an injured cat in the middle of the road has been identified as a 30-year-old Maine man.

Rollinsford Police Chief Jonathan Uraskevich told The Rochester Voice today that the victim was Michal Wing of Sanford, who was struck by a vehicle heading west on Portland Avenue. He had pulled over and was attempting to render aid to the feline when he was hit.

Wing died soon after being taken to a local hospital.

Uraskevich said the driver of the other car was being cooperative, and the case was officially still open, but "this was just a tragic, tragic accident."

The cat was also killed in the crash, according to Uraskevich.
