WAKEFIELD - Scores of volunteers are expected to gather in Wakefield on Saturday to continue the search for a Wakefield man missing since Nov. 7.

Wakefield Police Chief John Ventura said on Thursday they continue to follow up on leads that come in from the public but both they and State Police have ended any active search efforts.

Jacob Toussaint, 22, was first reported missing on Nov. 8 in the area of Old Stage Road.

His father, Eric Toussaint, said today that the search party will meet up at the Thompson Ballfield located at 1488 Wakefield Road just north of the town's DPW on Route 153.

Volunteers are expected to search a large swath of land east of the ballfields after new information was learned, one of the organizers of the search party posted on a Jake Toussaint Search Party Facebook page.

Eric Toussaint said family and friends have been continuing their search all week, but that Saturday's search may be the largest yet.

The territory they want to cover will require a large number of volunteers, he said today.

Jacob Toussaint, a Wakefield native, attended the Bud Carlson Academy in Rochester.

He sometimes frequented homeless camps, but always stayed in touch with family and friends by phone or social media, his father said, and he never went this long without checking in.

Volunteers will be offered food and water or hot coffee during Saturday's search, organizers say, and a go fund me page has been set up to help pay for the search.

Funds will also be used to be sure that the volunteers are safe during the searches, by providing compasses and fluorescent vests, especially now that it is hunting season.
