Shapleigh man charged in Lebanon rollover

WEST LEBANON - A Shapleigh man was charged in a rollover crash on Champion Street early Saturday morning.

Steven Aiken, 24, was charged with leaving the scene of property damage after he rolled his vehicle in the area of 114 Champion Street around 2 a.m., according to Maine State Police Trooper Michael Lane.

After the crash a bloodied Aiken allegedly made his way to the Milton Cumberland Farms where he told a clerk he'd been in an accident and asked to use a phone to call for help.

A short time later Milton Police got involved and apprised State Troopers working the Champion Street scene that an individual who may have been involved in the crash had turned up in Milton.

After a daylong investigation and help from Milton Police, Aiken admitted to officials he'd been behind the wheel of the car that crashed and was subsequently charged and summonsed for a future court date, Lane said. Leaving the scene of property damage is a Class D crime.
