SOUTH LEBANON - A fire that erupted in a snow machine quickly spread to a nearby porch and canoe before firefighters quickly doused the blaze Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters got the call a little before 2 p.m. for a fire at 152 Carl Broggi Hwy. and arrived to find the snow machine fully involved next to the porch with the nearby canoe also on fire, Lebanon Fire and EMS Fire Prevention Officer Windy Rudnicki said today.

"We got a carbon dioxide extinguisher to put out the porch fire, then we got a tanker on scene and canceled mutual aid," Rudnicki said.

Firefighters then ripped out the porch steps to douse any potential fire threat underneath and quelled the canoe fire.

Both the snow machine and canoe were totaled, Rudnicki said.

The porch, which was attached to a trailer, was heavily damaged.

The owner said he had no idea how the snow machine caught fire, Rudnicki said, adding it may have been burning for some time.

No injuries were reported in the fire.
