Speed, alcohol both factors in deadly Sanford crash, police say

SANFORD, Maine - Speed and alcohol are being blamed in a head-on collision on Sunday that left a Wells woman dead.

The crash occurred around 7:30 a.m. on Country Club Road (Route 4) near the intersection with Channel Lane.

Preliminary investigation revealed a Jeep Wrangler, operated by Cody Michaud, 32 of Sanford, was traveling east when it struck a Scion XA head on, operated by Ann Sinclair, 32, of Wells.

Despite life saving measures Sinclair died as result of her injuries.

Michaud was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, however speed and alcohol are believed to be factors.
