Springvale man nabbed in knifepoint robbery

BELGRADE, Maine - A Springvale man was arrested Tuesday in the Sunday robbery of a Springvale convenience store.

Keith Hammonds, 27, of Springvale was arrested in Belgrade without incident at the home of his mother and sister, where police had learned he was staying.

He was charged with felony robbery, with bail set at $2,000 cash.

Hammonds is accused of robbing the Springvale 7-Eleven at knifepoint on Sunday around 6:30 p.m. He fled the scene after taking an undisclosed amount of cash.

He was transported to the Kennebec County Corrections Facility by sheriff's deputies.

The arrest was made by members of the Sanford Police Department with assistance of Kennebec County Sheriff's Office.
