BERWICK - Southwest Maine football history will be made on Sunday.

For the first time ever a Southern Maine Youth Football League championship game will be played at Berwick's Kaplan Field when the Noble Middle School Squires will enjoy home field advantage when they take on Gorham for the championship.

It's likely it'll be the biggest crowd seen at the stadium since it hosted Noble High School games many years ago when the current middle school on Cranberry Meadow Road in Berwick served as the SAD 60 high school.

The Squires, who comprise students from Berwick, North Berwick and Lebanon, will be playing in the club's first championship game in 17 years.

They got to the championship by beating Falmouth in overtime on Sunday.

Head Coach Keith Austin is urging folks from Lebanon as well as Berwick and North Berwick to please come out and support the team on this historic occasion.

The game gets under way Sunday at 1 p.m.

FYI, the Squires' colors are maroon, black and white.
