State Police use aircraft for I-93 crackdown; catch 53 going over 90

SALEM - Troopers from the State Police Special Enforcement Unit along with State Police aircraft clocked three drivers traveling over 100 mph on Interstate 93 on Sunday.

During the operation Troopers cited drivers on 102 violations, including another 50 vehicles traveling over 90 mph, and several others who were either following too closely or violating the state's "hands free" and "move over" laws.

The operation was conducted in response to the increasing number of traffic violations and crashes on New Hampshire highways. The use of State Police aircraft allowed troopers to effectively monitor and enforce traffic laws from above, resulting in a significant reduction of reckless driving and other dangerous behaviors. a Monday press release noted.
