DOVER - The Strafford County Sheriff's Office was well represented at the Special Olympic Games held in Seattle, Wash., this past week.

Sgt. Jennifer Payne was the one officer chosen to represent New Hampshire law enforcement and run in the Law Enforcement Torch Run's Final Leg for Special Olympics USA Games.

She was one of 47 officers and 6 athletes that ran to multiple locations and ceremonies all over the state as the Guardian of the Flame, carrying the flame of hope across the state and to opening ceremonies. This was to spread the word of inclusion and Special Olympics.

"We are grateful for the dedication and commitment that Sgt. Payne demonstrates with the all the Athletes that took part at the Special Olympics Games in Seattle," Strafford County Sheriff David Dubois said. "Her dedication to the Special Olympics and to Strafford County is immeasurable."
