STRAFFORD - Kristi Flanders of Strafford was one of many leaders recognized by the Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains as part of their recognition of Volunteer Appreciation Month in April.
"The past year has been one of uncertainty and disruption to everyone's normal routines," the organization said in a statement. "That includes Girl Scout activities. Fortunately, many of our volunteers have stepped up and kept their Girl Scouts active in virtual troops, with outdoor activities, on Zoom, and other ways."
Among other notable accomplishments, Flanders, who started a Daisy troop in 2019, took outdoor skills training, hosted cookie booths, and participated in World Thinking Day events.
Flanders, 29, was also recognized last June when the Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains bestowed upon her the New Found Treasure award.
Flanders, the primary troop leader for Girl Scout Troop 59210, also made her own leader vest and created community events like a "Frozen 2" movie showing, a Cookie Monster Trunk & Treat, a Disney on Ice show, and a holiday parade with costumes.
"The Service Unit has been blown away by her enthusiasm, confidence, and true team spirit," said ChrisAnn Wiechert, one of the council's community team members.
