ROCHESTER - A Rochester Middle School student was suspended on Thursday after administrators found the youngster in possession of a BB-gun.

School officials during the day learned of the weapon being brought to the school, after which it was quickly located.

Rochester Schools Supt. Michael Hopkins said no lockdown was ordered because there was no "imminent threat to safety."

Hopkins reminded parents and guardians to review with their children what is not appropriate to bring to school.

The school policy prohibits all weapons such as guns, knives and Mace, but also to objects "fashioned to look like dangerous weapons."
