CONCORD - Governor Chris Sununu sought to allay pro-choicers' fears in the wake of Friday's Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe V. Wade.
"Regardless of this Supreme Court decision, access to these services will continue to remain safe, accessible, and legal in New Hampshire," he said.
The 6-3 decision reversed a 50-year tradition that guaranteed a woman's right to abortion.
Now it is up to the states to determine what their abortion laws should look like.
The court's ruling will likely lead to abortion bans in roughly half the states.
Justice Clarence Thomas, part of Friday's majority, urged colleagues to consider overturning other High Court decisions on same-sex marriage, gay sex and the use of contraceptives.
