Sylvia E. (Houde) Johnson ... of breast cancer; at 60



ROCHESTER - Sylvia E. (Houde) Johnson died Saturday, July 18, 2015, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital with her family at her side, following a valiant battle with breast cancer. She is survived by her husband Peter, her mother Rena (Dumont) Houde, her sister Cordelia Tillery and husband John and daughter Jessica, her brother Philip, and many other loving family members.
Sylvia was born in Rochester, N.H. on March 29, 1955, and graduated from Spaulding High School in 1973. She worked at Encore Shoe until she married Peter in 1976, and they moved to Plattsburgh, New York. They moved back to Rochester in 1979. Sylvia worked at Kingston-Warren Corporation in Newfields as a Plant Engineering Planner until she retired in 2003.
Sylvia's passions were Disney and genealogy. She enjoyed her many trips to Disney World, riding rollercoasters while Peter watched. In between trips, she tirelessly researched her French Canadian roots, documenting hundreds of ancestors reaching back into 18th century Europe.
