SOMERSWORTH - The Somersworth Police department is partnering with Target this week in a "Shop with a Cop" initiative so needy children can get presents for family members.

Police are spearheading the project with the assist of a $1,000 grant from the Somersworth Target.

Somersworth Police have identified 20 children to participate in the event. The children will be partnered with a police officer who will help them shop for the gifts.

After they are purchased everyone will meet at the Flanagan Center where refreshments will be served and the gifts wrapped.

Several police officers, department employees and other school and city employees are volunteering for the cause.

Somersworth Youth Connection is also lending a hand.

The event will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday.
