Teenager arrested in armed robbery at Family Dollar

ROCHESTER - A 16-year-old was arrested on Thursday after police say he walked into the Milton Road Family Dollar and robbed the store at knifepoint.

The incident occurred around 12:50 p.m. when the teenager allegedly entered the store wearing a mask and brandishing a knife. After taking money from the clerk he fled on foot.

While police were en route they got a description of the young man from the store manager who had seen the teen on Salmon Falls Road. Officers soon arrived, spotted the suspect and took him into custody during which time they found evidence of the crime, according to a police press release..

No one was injured during the incident.

Since the suspect is a minor, a juvenile petition will be filed through the juvenile court system for the charge of armed robbery.
