The Bard's darkest tragedy comes to RPAC this April

The classic Shakespeare tragedy Macbeth begins a weeklong run at the Rochester Performance and Arts Center on April 17. The tale "full of sound and fury" begins with a prophecy from the Three Witches that Macbeth will soon be king of Scotland.
When Macbeth learns of the prophecy, ambition and expediency lead him on a path to his own destruction.
Spurred by his want of power and at the urging of Lady Macbeth, the once brave general concocts a murderous plan to take the throne from King Duncan.
After seizing power, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, wracked with guilt by their evil deeds, begin a descent into madness. The play, considered one of Shakespeare's darkest, most powerful works, dramatizes the corruptive psychological and political effects, when the desire for power becomes malevolent.
